About Clarehall Shopping Centre
The Clare Manor Hotel, which replaced Claregrove Hall, and a nearby housing estate that was developed in the latter part of the 20th century gave their names to the shopping center and the site where it was built. The original house’s icehouse is still standing.
Tesco began planning the construction of a “£20 million shopping center” in Dublin 17 in March 2000. The 10-acre site was thought to have been purchased by Tesco for around £12 million. Tesco’s request for a shopping center to replace the existing planning permission for a standalone store was rejected by Dublin City Corporation more than a year after it was submitted. After years of disagreements regarding the shopping center’s size and a number of other factors, it finally opened its doors in the summer of 2004.
